Silicon (Si) is a promising anode material for the next generation of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) due to its high theoretical capacity. However, Si undergoes a significant volumetric expansion during lithiation, leading to cracking, pulverization, and poor long-term electrochemical performance. To tackle these challenges, numerous strategies have been proposed, resulting in a rapidly expanding and diverse field of research. Despite this surge in Si-related studies, a comprehensive quantitative analysis of the literature on Si anode applications in LiBs has not been thoroughly examined yet. This study aims to bridge this gap through a bibliometric analysis with the objective of providing insights into key research themes, trends over time, emerging topics, and future research directions. Furthermore, it highlights prolific authors, organizations, countries, and foundational works in this area, offering a valuable reference for inclined researchers. For this purpose, a dataset of 4508 publications from 1970 to 2024 was retrieved from the Web of Science and analyzed to identify trends in leading journals, publication outputs, disciplines, and collaborations. The analysis shows that 2005–2014 was a “golden period” of substantial innovation, while more recent work reflects incremental yet interdisciplinary advancements. Notably, the collaboration network among prolific authors was found to be relatively weak, with the majority of the authors having only two or fewer connections. In contrast, strong collaboration was observed among leading institutions in the field. A thorough keyword analysis revealed that the research focus over the years can be categorized into three main themes: (1) electrochemical performance, (2) nanostructures and composite electrodes, and (3) electrochemical processes and mechanisms. Additionally, recently emerging topics include understanding the mechanisms of Si anodes and improving their performance through novel binders, pre-lithiation strategies, and advanced electrolytes. This study quantitatively analyzes for the first time the development of Si anodes for LiBs, offering an invaluable reference for researchers looking to engage in and contribute to this field.

Based on these findings, insights into the research trends and future directions are presented.

The present research started from the premise that although there is a long history of studying the four concepts independently and the relationships between various combinations of them, in terms of a unitary holistic approach, there is still an uncovered need in terms of empirical research. Therefore, the purpose of the bibliometric analysis, that is the subject of this chapter, is to provide a suggestive picture of the landscape created by academic papers published in the last half century on this topic. The bibliometric analysis allowed for the highlighting, from a quantitative perspective, the publication patterns and the main trends in the study of the relations between “environment”, “structure”, “strategy”, and “performances”. Although this type of analysis is based only on a collection of bibliometric data, not including the analysis of the actual content of the work, some useful conclusions could be highlighted which could guide the future course of the research.

Multiple science policy initiatives in recent years have encouraged interaction between academic and non-academic actors as a way of aligning research priorities with societal challenges. Academic engagement, defined as scientists’ knowledge-related interactions with non-academics, is recognised as crucial for promoting technological development and effectively addressing societal issues. However, whether such interactions stimulate or compromise fundamental scientific advances remains an open question. This paper contributes to the debate by exploring the extent to which academic engagement increases the production of cutting-edge research. We examine the relationship between scientists’ interactions with non-academic actors and the production of high-impact research, using bibliometric indicators and primary data from a large-scale survey of scientists in all scientific fields affiliated with Spanish universities and public research organisations. Our results suggest an overall positive relationship between scientists’ interaction with non-academic actors and the production of research findings with high scientific impact. We show, also, that this positive association is contingent on (i) the specific mode of interaction and (ii) the scientists’ previous scientific achievements. We find that modes of interaction that facilitate knowledge exchange and cooperation are particularly conducive to the publication of cutting-edge research, compared to unidirectional forms of knowledge exchange, and that renowned and reputable scientists are the best positioned to leverage the opportunities offered by partnerships with non-academic actors.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the latest research using a systematic review of the literature and a bibliographic mapping in order to identify the competencies that a gastronomic entrepreneur should possess in order to be effective and achieve success in their business. The steady increase in academic production has been paralleled by a surge in the number of bibliometric and systematic literature reviews (SLRs) published. Over the years, scholars began to combine bibliometric analyses with SLRs. However, such combined approaches relied on fragmented methodological suggestions without clear guiding frameworks. This article introduces integrated guidelines for undertaking multi-method literature reviews, combining bibliometric analyses with SLRs and theory development, which we call ‘Bibliometric-Systematic Literature Review’ (B-SLR). In doing so, we develop a 10-step process on how to apply the B-SLR. In each of the proposed steps, we discuss critical decisions and best practices to support researchers while crafting meaningful and theoretically relevant literature reviews. The B-SLR is intended as a flexible toolbox designed to accommodate diverse research objectives in the miner–prospector continuum, spanning from reviewing, theorising, tracing future roadmaps or creating bridges among different topics. The B-SLR incorporates the pillars of critical analysis, timeliness, coverage, rigour, coherence and originality of contribution, also emphasising the need for a novel and relevant theoretical contribution. The B-SLR is supported by a companion website, providing additional resources to assist researchers in this 10-step process: https://www.b-slr.org.

Using the bibliometric software VOSviewer® version 1.6.20 and Scopus as a bibliographic database, this paper aims to investigate the research streams in terms of the co-occurrence network of authors, terms extracted from the title field, countries, keywords, and organizations researching on IM from publications between 1974 and 2024. Retrieved from Scopus and using science mapping bibliometric techniques with VOSviewer®, 4756 documents published on IM from 1974 to 2024 were analyzed, divided in three phases (1974–1995, 1996–2019, and 2020–2024), and limited to BMA (Business, Management, and Accounting), EEF (Economics, Econometrics, and Finance), and SOC (Social Sciences). The main findings are as follows: (a) there is a tendency for a minimal relationship between authors from different organizations and countries to collaborate in research on IM; (b) almost half (45.12%) of the publications on IM were published by authors from the European Union, which rises to 55.24% in Europe if the United Kingdom is included. These results are far ahead of those of the United States (13.4%), China (7.6%), the Russian Federation (3.6%), and Japan (2.3%). (c) While the first publications on IM deal with aspects related to product development, management, technology, R&D, and competition, there is a recent trend to link IM to sustainable development, open innovation, ecosystems, stakeholders’ engagement, and entrepreneurship.

Bibliometric analysis has recently become a popular and rigorous technique used for exploring and analyzing the literature in business and management. Prior studies principally focused on ‘how to do bibliometric analysis’, presenting an overview of the bibliometric methodology along with various techniques and step-by-step guidelines that can be relied on to rigorously conduct bibliometric analysis. However, the current body of evidence is limited in its ability to provide practical knowledge that can enhance the design and performance of bibliometric research. This claim is supported even by the fact that relevant studies refer to their work as ‘bibliometric analysis’ rather than ‘bibliometric research’. Accordingly, we endeavor to offer a more functional framework for researchers who wish to design/conduct bibliometric research on any field of research, especially business and management. To do this, we followed a twofold way. We first outlined the main stages and steps of typical bibliometric research. Then, we proposed a comprehensive framework for specifying how to design/conduct the research and under what headings the relevant stages (step-by-step) will be used and/or presented. Thus, the current paper is expected to be a useful source to gain insights into the available techniques and guide researchers in designing/conducting bibliometric research.

Journal of management & organization (JMO), which started its publication life in 1995, publishes scientific studies in the field of management and organization. This research aims to make a bibliometric analysis of 780 documents published since 2007 when JMO first started indexing in WoS. Research data were taken from the Web of Science database in plaintext format. The journal’s conceptual, intellectual, and social structure was revealed by applying techniques such as co-citation, co-authoring, and co-creation through the Vosviewer software. When the research results are examined, it is seen that there is an increasing trend in the number of citations after 2007, when JMO started to be indexed in the WoS database. Research findings show that 1516 authors contributed to the JMO, with “Tui Mckeown” being the most prolific author with fifteen documents. A total of 651 universities contributed to the JMO during the period under review. The top contributing university is Griffth University, with 38 papers. The country that has contributed the most to the JMO since 2007 is Australia, with 241 documents. “Leadership” is the most used keyword in the journal. “Academy of Management Journal” is the most used journal in the documents sent to the journal. The fact that the journal does not comply with Lotka’s law and the studies with multiple authors are more than single studies means that the cooperation between the authors is strong.

Measuring the impact of a publication in a fair way is a significant challenge in bibliometrics, as it must not introduce biases between fields and should enable comparison of the impact of publications from different years. In this paper, we propose a Bayesian approach to tackle this problem, motivated by empirical data demonstrating heterogeneity in citation distributions. The approach uses the a priori distribution of citations in each field to estimate the expected a posteriori distribution in that field. This distribution is then employed to normalize the citations received by a publication in that field. Our main contribution is the Bayesian Impact Score, a measure of the impact of a publication. This score is increasing and concave with the number of citations received and decreasing and convex with the age of the publication. This means that the marginal score of an additional citation decreases as the cumulative number of citations increases and increases as the time since publication of the document grows. Finally, we present an empirical application of our approach in eight subject categories using the Scopus database and a comparison with the normalized impact indicator Field Citation Ratio from the Dimensions AI database.

Responsible assessment promotes expert judgment and opposes sole reliance on research metrics when assessing research excellence. While many institutions and national research panels declare commitment to responsible assessment practices, we ask: have these declarations affected the outcomes of research evaluation? Using data from the UK’s 2021 national research quality exercise and focusing on the business and management discipline, we show that the strong association between journal rankings and expert evaluations has not changed, despite institutional endorsements of DORA (Declaration on Research Assessment). Additionally, we find that this correlation is strongest for the most prestigious journals. The implications of these findings are profound: they enhance understanding of the use of metrics in research evaluations post-DORA and highlight potential constraints in the deployment of responsible assessment.

Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, known collectively as extended realities (XR), have the potential to transform businesses but research service is required. This report explores the productivity of XR-related in business research. This paper has enhanced the traditional bibliometric approach by integrating it with a mathematical supplement, Expedited Analytical Hierarchy Process (EAHP). This enhanced methodology allows for a nuanced evaluation of research service productivity and offers direction for future research efforts. Productivity is evaluated in terms of the effectiveness and efficiency of research results, so creating a bibliometrics index for commenting on research effectiveness and evaluating research efficiency criteria from a publication standpoint, the work added to the field. Analysis of the collected scientometrics data show the field is not yet optimally productive, leading to a call for increased focus on future research. Besides, the utilization of EAHP’s systematics way to convert the data into a future research direction, with mixed reality found to require more attention than other XRs. A complementary literature analysis step highlights the practical application of XRs in business and the growing importance of the XR-owned worlds, metaverses. As a result, this study found evidence to argue that the services provided by the business research community are not optimally productive when dealing with the XR movement, and it calls for more attention to support businesses.

In this study, we propose a new index for measuring performance in science which is based on collaborations (co-authorship distances) in science: the Prize Winner Index (PWI). The PWI is based on the Erdős number – a number that was introduced several years ago. We propose to focus with the new index on laureates of prestigious prizes in a certain field and to measure co-authorship distances between the laureates and other scientists. To exemplify and explain our proposal, we computed the proposed index in the field of quantitative science studies (PWIPM). The Derek de Solla Price Memorial Award (Price Medal, PM) is awarded to outstanding scientists in the field. We tested the convergent validity of the PWIPM. We were interested whether the indicator is related to two established bibliometric indicators: (1) citation impact (number of papers belonging to the 10 % most frequently cited), and (2) journal prestige (number of papers which have appeared in top quartile journals). The results show that the coefficients for the correlation between PWIPM and both indicators are high in cases when a sufficient number of papers have been considered for a reliable assessment of performance. Therefore, measured by established indicators for research performance, the new PWI indicator seems to be convergently valid and, therefore, might be a possible alternative for established (bibliometric) indicators – with a focus on prizes.

Redox flow batteries (RFB) are receiving increasing attention as promising stationary energy storage systems. However, while first innovation activities in this technological field date back to the 1950s, the commercialization and diffusion rates of RFB technology have remained limited. Currently, reverse logistics and sustainability are recognized as strategies to enhance the performance of supply chain processes and customer service and to reduce environmental impact, which is reflected in the planning of and reduction in costs throughout the production process. This article developed a bibliometric review that considered the growth of reverse logistics and sustainability from the perspective of different organizations, authors, thematic subareas, countries, journals, keywords, and volume of citations and publications. For this, a methodology was developed that consisted of reviewing previous research, obtaining the Scopus data set, applying the analysis with Microsoft Excel 365 and VOSviewer version 1.6.18 to determine the applications and trends of future research, and identifying the global impact in the last six years on organizations. The search equation with the application of filters resulted in 22,625 articles. The Sustainability Switzerland journal provided the most significant number of contributions in terms of publications, and the Journal of Cleaner Production stood out for its number of citations. Tseng, M.L. and Govindan, K. were the most active authors. China, the United States, and the United Kingdom were the most notable countries. Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China were the most influential institutions. The main findings were the recognition of the potential research lines and industry 4.0 technologies applied in supply chains and the development of sustainable processes with the fusion of reverse logistics, sustainability, and circular economy.

Keeping up with the hastily growing economy implies undergoing unremitting transformation permanently. In the field of supply chain, such progress can only be guaranteed via the exploration of new horizons and innovative solutions in response to the constraints of the global market. Emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, offer promising avenues for enhancing supply chain processes, with sustainability ascending as a critical consideration. Despite the recent surfacing of AI-driven applications, scant attention has been devoted to exploring their full potential within supply chain operations, particularly in conjunction with SDGs. Recognizing the untapped opportunities presented by the implementation of AI for a sustainable supply chain this study undertakes a bibliometric analysis of 236 research papers sourced from the Web of science database. The analysis utilizes R language BiblioShiny to examine the extracted papers, and dissect patterns, trends, and relationships among key concepts and themes as well as prominent topics, impactful authors, and leading journals and countries in this domain. The findings reveal substantial growth in research related to SCM, AI, and sustainability as the UK leads this field of study with 132 articles followed by India, China and the USA. Eventually, the National University of Singapore came first in terms of paper affiliations, followed by De La Salle University, and London Metropolitan University. These results only prove that sustainability is becoming more critical in the equation of AI-driven supply chains especially with the current socio-political and economic circumstances, constituting a solid base for further academic research and more innovations in the managerial and business-related policies in this field.

A circular economy (CE) addresses the shift in economic systems from an unsustainable linear approach to a sustainable circular approach through start-ups and entrepreneurial ecosystems (EE). A single level of focus on CE research limits an understanding of the mechanisms fostering a transition towards CE. We conduct a systematic review of the macro–meso–micro interconnections between start-ups and EE in CE using bibliometric and content analyses to scope the literature without time boundaries. This exercise led to 90 articles from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. We contribute to literature on entrepreneurship and CE by building an integrative multi-level framework linked to the just and safe planetary boundaries by bridging macro-level explanations (public policies, regulations and infrastructure) and the meso-level (circular supply chains and circular ecosystems) and micro-level (circular start-ups and circular business models). The framework highlights social and environmental sustainability challenges, and just and safe close-loop production patterns.

Empowering women is essential for poverty alleviation and open involvement of woman entrepreneurs in line for entrepreneurship development. Nonetheless, several woman-led enterprises and woman entrepreneurs have scarce opportunities to revitalize beyond the dearth of financial services to realize financial freedom. This article’s approach hinges on a bibliometric analysis to survey recent developments and trends in microfinancing woman-owned enterprises and how this field is expected to transform to recent financial technological progress over successive years. We review existing evidence from 402 published articles indexed in the Scopus database from January 2003 to March 2023 to explain the current research development and interrelated prospects for enhancing studies on microfinance for woman entrepreneurship. The results vividly indicate that access to a stream of microfinancing credit is fundamental to the prosperity of urban woman-led enterprises across all countries. Despite this, woman entrepreneurs still encounter several obstacles when starting new businesses or expanding existing ones. With a growing demand for substantial sums of external financing to transition to sustainable business practices, their contribution to sustainable development is most often unreachable. Thus, any financing strategies focused on allowing access to microfinance credit by woman entrepreneurs are necessary to enable this sector to receive the benefits of economic freedom. This study offers good insights for current and potential entrepreneurs to bridge the financing gaps in emerging economies as a strategy for strengthening the capability of woman entrepreneurs to pursue economic opportunities that can inspire sustainable business enterprises and contribute to sustainable development. Finally, the study provides a foundation for future research in the domain of entrepreneurial financing for MSMEs.

This study aimed to identify the boundaries between social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship research through conducting a comparative analysis of international co-authorship networks. Analyzing 29,510 papers published in the Web of Science database from 1999 to 2021, this study utilized bibliometric analysis to examine international co-authorship networks, the strength of international co-authorship, and the top collaborative and collaborating countries. The results found that based on quantitative analysis, social entrepreneurship research focuses more on local challenges and less on international collaboration as compared to entrepreneurship research. Moreover, the findings reveal the involvement of developed countries in the international co-authorship for social entrepreneurship research field. This study sheds light on the characteristics of social entrepreneurship research, which focuses on local and regional challenges. Contrastingly, entrepreneurship research focuses on the globalized field while sharing information and technology. These insights could benefit researchers, practitioners, and educators in prioritizing globalization in entrepreneurship and localization in social entrepreneurship.

It is widely accepted that service design is a discipline that is becoming increasingly recognized as a key element for productive collaboration between multidisciplinary stakeholders. However, it is difficult to understand the interplay between service design and product innovation in higher education. There is a gap in the service design literature on how its way of teaching can enable better product innovation if introduced within product innovation degrees. This study seeks to explore how product innovation might be stimulated by service design teaching, with a focus on collaborative participant activities often used within the service design discipline. Previous studies on service design pedagogy have provided various frameworks for teaching service design that are often drawn from different disciplinary perspectives, such as engineering, social sciences, marketing, business, etc. This article, in contrast, examines service design pedagogy strategies applied in design education within the realm of product innovation. A bibliometric analysis method was adopted to review the existing literature. We found that the selected studies touched upon several themes, which all relate to collaboration among participants and stakeholders in service design and product innovation. The findings shed light on specific projects and case studies that were implemented via team collaboration. Further analysis proposes that the service design pedagogy in design education enhances product design via wider value considerations such as sustainability principles and methods. This study begins to illustrate how service design as a systemic approach to designing products might better enable product innovators to consider wider aspects of value co-creation and sustainability via explicitly involving and considering wider stakeholder networks beyond simply designing a product for a user.

Three decades ago, supply chain uncertainty was recognized as a significant conceptual problem that must be resolved to successfully satisfy supply and demand activities. For this reason, firms have developed several workable approaches and techniques (including lean, agility, and resilient framework) in response to the need to maintain such activities in the face of uncertainty. Despite this, the current pandemic’s onset has hampered supply chain management, indicating that current solutions fall short of being sufficient to shield firms from being impacted. Therefore, it raises the question of what we have learned from decades of research and studies to prepare us for such adversities. And what plans must the firms have put in place to address this disaster? To focus on this, the current study intends to explore supply chain uncertainty trends and patterns, to emphasize the future orientation. Using the PRISMA 2020 (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020) protocol, 884 peer-reviewed journal articles were selected from the Web of Science database and analyzed using bibliometric analysis through MS Excel and VOSviewer software (version 1.6.18). There are two ways the results are presented. First, performance analysis revealed that 2335 writers had written 884 publications (1993–2022), which had an average 32.2 citation level across 176 journals. Second, the science mapping analysis included well-known methods, such as citation analysis, co-citation analysis, bibliographic coupling, co-word analysis, and co-authorship analysis. The original contribution of this study lies in the identification of four clusters through the analysis, namely, overall impact of uncertainty, demand uncertainty, challenges uncertainty, and uncertain strategy. This led to recommendations for future research that practitioners could use.

The current study intends to understand the spectrum of existing scientific literature on Impact Investing, explore the publication credentials of that literature in the form of bibliometrics, and investigate the future scope for research in the area of impact investing. We have used the visualization tool VOSviewer to analyze the bibliometric data collected from the Scopus database. ‘Sustainable development’ was identified as the most used keyword in the documents, followed by ‘corporate social responsibility’, ‘investment’, and ‘environmental performance’. The United States was the leading contributing country followed by the UK, China, Italy, Canada, and India. Based on the systematic review of 753 journal articles, we have identified five distinct research areas in the field of impact investing. The top five research clusters are sustainable development research, sustainability research, corporate social responsibility research, Sustainable investment research, and environmental economics research. Our results revealed a dearth of focus among researchers in identifying impact investing either as a standalone concept or as a concept that drives better performance in organizations. Hence, we propose some promising areas of impact investing research. They are sustainable finance, firm performance, tourism, and climate change research. The output of this research has implications for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and academia since it pinpoints the popular and promising clusters of research in the field of impact investing. Our study is unique and original in the sense that it covers a more comprehensive inclusion, and exclusion criteria as well as keyword combinations and thus, it provides better directions for future research in the field.

With the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has tremendous potential for the agroindustry sector, especially the halal industry. Micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) are essential to the Indonesian economy and play a key role in the development of the halal sector. Over the past ten years, there has been an increase in the consumption of beef due to increased understanding of nutrition and dietary diversification. But maintaining the halal purity of both domestic and imported beef is still difficult, especially in traditional marketplaces where large quantities of beef are sold. The majority of Indonesian customers prefer to buy beef from MSMEs, frequently without the use of commercial packaging. The purpose of this study is to investigate customer behavior in relation to beef products’ halal traceability, focusing on bulk and processed beef from MSMEs. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method and Vos Viewer for bibliometric analysis, this paper looks into how blockchain technology could be used for halal traceability. A total of 7363 articles published in Scopus from 2019 to 2023 were screened, with 55 articles meeting inclusion criteria for systematic review. Numerous factors influence the halal status throughout the supply chain, necessitating tracing and tracking mechanisms to gather information on product sourcing, handling, and transportation. Blockchain technology emerges as a promising tool for ensuring traceability and verifying halal status. However, the systematic review underscores challenges related to consumer awareness and willingness to adopt blockchain implementation.

The provision of sustainable housing should factor energy efficiency, the use of sustainable building methods and materials and address the current associated barriers. This consideration triggered an ongoing study in UK which has so far conducted a bibliometric analysis of 275 papers using the VOSviewer software. More papers have been published in the last 5 years compared to the previous 15, and the UK is less engaged in successful collaborations in comparison to other economically developed nations. The lesser use of innovation in the UK has been identified. Also, the uses of sustainable methods and materials in residential housing are not fully exploited for achieving energy efficiency. A future research direction emerging is the potential to study the combined impact of using innovative materials and methods to achieve greater energy efficiency in UK housing provision. Through technological innovations and the need to move from fossil fuels (for example, through the use of heat pumps) a new approach can move the UK closer to achieving net-zero in housing provision and operations.

This study reviews the literature focused on nation brands and brand culture through the innovative combination of latent Dirichlet allocation with a multinomial and unordered discrete choice analysis. Unlike a narrow perspective of bibliometric work, which confines itself to reviewing existing literature within a specific research domain, a broader viewpoint leverages bibliometric analysis to pinpoint potential research opportunities indicative of emerging trends in related fields. Adopting this comprehensive paradigm, the current study scrutinizes 60 articles spanning the timeframe from 1992 to 2021. The analysis discerns six prospective marketing strategies instrumental in propelling a country to global brand prominence: the synergistic integration of country-of-origin and city brands, consumption branding, materialistic branding, green branding, ideological branding, and scientific branding. Notably, environmental branding has assumed a pivotal global role post–2015, while ideological branding represents a more recent trend centered on diligent efforts to invigorate national identity systems. Empirical insights underscore the need of a multidisciplinary approach in the creation of nation brands, suggesting that distinct strategies need not be mutually exclusive. Quantitatively, it is found evidence that covering one additional environmental topic in a study increases (decreases) its likelihood of belonging to the consumption (ideology) cluster by 50.8 (50.6) percentage points, respectively. Strategic recommendations for future national endeavors emphasize the significance of becoming a Stackelberg leader in the race to generate added value. Collectively, these findings underscore that the bibliometric analysis employed to elucidate the evolution of nation brands and brand culture, typically associated with international marketing, unveils two promising niche areas for future research in green finance: green nation brands and green brand culture. The former pertains to asset allocations within green enterprises and environmental sectors, enhancing a country’s symbolic commitment to the burgeoning green paradigm. Meanwhile, the later delves into the internalization of fintech development’s growth and intermediary effects, fostering green innovation, energy efficiency, and green supply chains. This bottom-up approach is geared towards meeting community-based needs and presents valuable avenues for future exploration in the field of green finance.

In the post-Covid-19 era, identifying emerging trends in human resources management has become crucial for organizations seeking to adapt and thrive in the ever-changing landscape. Recognizing these trends enhances employee engagement, talent acquisition, and overall organizational effectiveness. One approach to unveil these trends is bibliometric analysis, which helps researchers identify influential topics and themes within the field by analyzing publication patterns, citation networks, and keyword co-occurrence. By evaluating bibliometric indicators such as citation counts and h-index, researchers can identify influential authors, institutions, and publications, fostering collaborations and knowledge-sharing opportunities. Additionally, this analysis reveals underexplored areas in literature, guiding the development of research agendas and addressing important unanswered questions in human resources. With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as Elicit, Iris, and Litmap, new possibilities arise to perform bibliometric analysis. Comparing the gains from AI-driven methods to traditional approaches, this research paper aims to understand their relative benefits in the context of human resource management after Covid-19. Although AI offers a wider range of data sources and more comprehensive insights, traditional methods still hold value, particularly when context-specific knowledge is vital. The choice between AI and traditional methods depends on research objectives, data availability, and the resources and expertise available to researchers. Ultimately, adopting emerging trends in human resources through effective bibliometric analysis can give organizations a competitive advantage, ensuring their ability to proactively adapt to the dynamic needs and expectations of their employees and achieve sustained success.

Agile software development has reached wide adoption in various countries including Turkey, even though from which its original cultural backgrounds differ. In Turkey, many organizations have started to adopt Agile approaches more and more in their software development processes. This interest in the country’s software development is parallel to what the academic literature on Agile in the country exhibits. However, despite the prevalence of Agile in Turkey, there is a lack of sufficient secondary research and comprehensive review on Agile in Turkey, which poses a significant necessity for further investigation. Considering this gap, we performed a quantitative bibliometric analysis of Agile software development publications produced by Turkish organizations in a holistic and broad approach both for scholars and practitioners. We provide a summary of relevant academic studies that emerged in Agile research in Turkey by focusing on many aspects including bibliometric properties of papers, researchers, affiliations, venues, and thematic contents that are separated into 15 sub-research questions. After delivering results based on the questions, we discuss the results and findings of our study and present implications regarding the findings. The main contributions of our work are twofold. First, the paper may help the readers to have a quick idea, understand the subject, and gain insight from a large volume of scientific data. Second, the paper can help readers to use these analyses to form future research.

Three-dimensional food printing (3DFP) can produce foods with tailored nutritional content, complex shapes and textures. This technology requires food formulations (food inks) with specific rheological properties. Pickering emulsions (PE) have gained attention due to their long-term stability and desirable printable properties, making them an excellent candidate for 3DFP. The purpose of this study is to use bibliometric analysis to identify the most important scientific research on PE used in 3DFP. This includes identifying key authors, countries and universities or institutions where the research was conducted, as well as the primary journals that provide information on this topic. Our study provides insight into the relevance of food ink properties for next-generation 3DFP and the main raw materials used for the development of PE. Out of the 28 original research articles analysed, only 10 countries have studied the application of PE for 3DFP. China and the United Kingdom have been the primary leaders in researching this topic. The Food Hydrocolloids Journal has been the main source of scientific information. The studies cited Pickering stabiliser particles, including soy protein isolate, microcrystalline cellulose and acetylated microcrystalline cellulose, as well as oil phases based on sunflower, canola, olive and soybean oils. High internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs) have shown great thermal and conductive stability, making them a promising choice for 3DFP post-processing. Further studies should assess the bioavailability and bioaccessibility of the bioactive compounds that are encapsulated. It is also important to explore their potential use in real food systems and to integrate innovative packaging solutions.

The use of chatbots for customer service has gained momentum in recent years. Increasing evidence has shown that chatbots can transform the customer service landscape. Nevertheless, this topic currently lacks adequate bibliometric and visualization research. In order to review and summarise the research on chatbots, the study employs a bibliometric analysis approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of chatbots. The study uses bibliometric analysis of 798 documents sourced from the Scopus database from 2001 to 2022. The combination of biblioshiny (web interface application of Bibliometrix) and VOS viewer software was used to visualize the analysis. The study’s findings reveal three prominent areas in the current research: antecedents of the adoption of chatbots, application of chatbots and behavioural & relational outcomes of the application of chatbots. The future directions and implications have been discussed in the study’s conclusion. © 2024 Ram Arti Publishers. All rights reserved.

Purpose This paper aims to analyze the thematic content of research addressing the relation between board of directors (BoD) and business transformation (BT) to obtain better understanding of status and to derive future areas of study. Design/methodology/approach This paper reviews literature through a bibliometric analysis based on co-occurrence of articles published in Web of Science Core Collection ™ (WoS) between 1990 and 2022, identifying key concepts, setting network of relations and identifying the strategic importance of clusters of concepts. Findings and implications are discussed, future lines of research are presented and limitations are noted. Findings Thematic research on boards addressing transformation shifted from the analysis of individuals’ traits to an organizational approach with majority of research centered on the role of boards under different theories and the consequences of strategic changes on firm’s performance. Further research is around gender diversity, sustainability and the moderating role of ownership structure and business culture. Research limitations/implications Some limitations are also noted. This analysis considered articles indexed by WoS for Q1+Q2 publications as source of literature, while including others such as Scopus would increase knowledge base. Also, to identify main streams of research, the authors considered keywords with cumulative occurrence spanning from 30% to 40% while increasing this percentage would add terms that might improve precision to the connections among keywords. Other techniques could have been used such as co-citation or bibliographic coupling, although the authors find these as better suited to investigate the basic structure behind the foundational knowledge of the topic while the authors’ intention was to understand the positioning of study fields regarding the degree of research progress. Practical implications This paper presents some practical implications for future researchers. Those who wish to leverage previous evidence to address new research questions might look into principal themes covering BoD dynamics and composition to exert CG, and the relation between strategic decisions and performance measured by different variables. Those who wish to position their research as new findings to shed light on dilemmas, might find opportunities in the fields of climate change-sustainability, R&D for growth and innovation under the perspective of intangible assets. Originality/value This paper, is the first to the best of the authors’ knowledge, to identify research clusters for the intersection of boards and transformation and to determine their stage of development.

Research on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technologies in the HRM domain has attracted significant scholarly attention. Yet, few studies have consolidated key trends in adopting AI for HRM, especially on managerial competencies required for adopting AI-based technologies and identifying the key research directions for HR managers, including the development of an AI-focused competency framework for HR managers. A systematic literature review (SLR) and bibliometrics analysis were conducted to identify the current research direction for managers adopting AI in HRM. Several themes of managerial capabilities required for adopting AI in HRM were identified, utilizing the Dynamic Capabilities View (DCV). The SLR identified applications of various AI tools and techniques in HR functions, recruitment and selection was one with the broadest use of AI applications. Managerial cognitive capability, managerial human capital, and managerial social capital of DCV were considered the initial coding categories under which various managerial competencies are required for the adoption of AI in HRM. This study utilized SLR, Bibliometric, and directed content analysis as three distinct but interrelated sets of methodologies for extracting novel insights into the adoption of AI for HRM. It highlights the associated managerial capabilities that need mapping for its adoption.

There must be proper business efforts to achieve high competitiveness and outstanding business performance, especially in an uncertain economic environment. It must be the best choice when dealing with organizational agility issues. Organizational agility is defined differently in various studies. There is much uncertainty and disagreement around the definition and lements of this notion. Therefore, this research aims to conduct a thorough evaluation of the literature that synthesizes definitions, concepts, measurements, and analyses from previous works on organizational agility research. There was a systematic literature review using this methodology by involving a search for articles, papers, or all works published between 1999 and 2000. There are 59 articles found that match the predetermined criteria. The results combine some factors that influence organizational agility and dynamic capabilities. These research findings offer significant implicit insights that assist organizations in navigating VUCA conditions and realizing a sustainable competitive advantage. They also indicate potential areas for future research.

Supporting the birth and development of innovative small firms, i.e., start-up incubation, has emerged as a critical factor in fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, regional development, and more recently, sustainability. This bibliometric review aims to comprehensively understand and visualize different research perspectives on how start-ups are successfully incubated. A total of 1116 Scopus articles were selected and synthesized using a qualitative approach. The study applies novel visualization techniques (Citation Network Analysis, Global Citation Score, Burst Detection Analysis and Co-Occurrence Networks of Keywords) to map the scientific structure of start-up incubation research, including the clusters of the leading research topics based on citation networks, the most cited articles, and the keywords with the most substantial citation bursts as well as their co-occurrence. We evaluate research on start-up incubation from 1972 to 2023 and show how the topic has advanced by scholars’ changing interests over time. We identify five clusters that reflect distinct study themes and their most cited references. The findings contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the evolution of start-up incubation research, which developed from a focus on biotechnology and technology transfer toward the current research trends on accelerators and (entrepreneurial) ecosystems. This paper also provides insights for policymakers and start-up incubation managers to make informed decisions.

Although there is a need for empirical studies to examine pandemic leadership, the existing scales of leadership assessment are controversial. The purpose, here, is to propose dimensions that could set foundations for an “organisational leadership evaluation scale” that evaluates the scientific significance of initial responses by organisational leaders against “the novel Coronavirus pandemic”. The research question is a practical one: “How can organisational leaders lead their organisations as a pandemic that has just started is increasingly raising concerns on health?”. Review research and a systematic review of the pre-pandemic publications about leadership, organisation, pandemic and health among various electronic scientific databases (e.g., Web of Science, Scopus, etc.) motivate new knowledge. The dimensions of what would have been a significant initial response to the pandemic are broadly emphasising health, having a global understanding, recognising competencies, not losing control and prioritising trust. These gender-neutral and style-free dimensions could form the dimensions of an “organisational leadership evaluation scale”. To perform, there is a need to support learning and “depth of knowledge” and to oppose superficiality, “convenience information” and “knowledge deficit”.

Studies on information technology and organizational agility has shown significant growth since the beginning of 2014, which may be an indicator that this theme is beginning to mature in the concerned literature, and increasingly has become the subject of researchers. In view of the presented scenario, the objective of this study is to introduce a synthesis of the literature panorama of the relation between the focused two constructs in the last years. The author (s) chose to employ a bibliometric analysis to understand the evolution of studies on that relation. We concluded that in the United States there is a great concentration of research on this subject, and the most recent publications, in general, occurred in relevant management and information management system journals. The identified studies mainly concentrate on the causal relationship between information technology (IT) and organizational agility from three perspectives: (1) the direct effect of IT capabilities on agility, (2) the moderating effect of IT capabilities on the relationship between other organizational capabilities and organizational agility, and (3) the indirect effect of IT on organizational agility mediated by other organizational capabilities. In addition, it was possible to identify organizational agility connected with three aspects: sensitivity, decision and responsiveness. Another contribution of the study is the construction of a framework based on the main study samples and the most recurrent keywords. It is possible to detect the three levels of analysis in the relation between the two previously mentioned constructs, besides bringing out the definitions used for each construct. An opportunity for future studies is to evaluate the taxonomy identified for organizational agility.

The civil construction sector is under pressure to make construction processes more sustainable, that is, aligned with economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Thus, the research question considers: How do Industry 4.0 Technologies help civil construction face challenges and identify new opportunities to become sustainable? The general objective of this work is to offer a current overview of publications that associate the civil construction sector; Industry 4.0 Technologies and sustainability, and identify the challenges and opportunities of the Industry 4.0 Technologies set to contribute to sustainability achievement. The research method was a bibliographic review combined with bibliometric analysis in SCOPUS databases. The results show that civil construction faces the challenge of reducing the consumption of natural resources, ensuring safe work, and optimizing processes, especially handwork. However, the insertion of Industry 4.0 Technologies into civil construction has allowed sensors, robots, modelling and simulation systems, artificial intelligence, and drones to have their productivity, efficiency, safety, strategic and environmental management enhanced. Furthermore, Industry 4.0 Technologies can contribute to civil construction through innovative, sustainable, and technological solutions focused on the flow of work, which can provide growth through the balance of costs/benefits in the management of projects and works. Thus, it is expected that this article will contribute to discussions around the possibility of construction becoming sustainable with the support of Industry 4.0 Technologies.

Industry 5.0 arrived and sounded the alarms, warning entrepreneurs to adopt it as quickly as possible; the advantage is that this industry is still in its preliminary stages. However, there is little research on this model in the literature. In this context, the objective of this study was to analyze the current state of industry 5.0 in 215 publications from the Scopus database during the period 2019-2022. The applied methodology was quantitative analysis, with a bibliometric approach supported by the VOSviewer and RStudio software, in addition to the Microsoft Excel application. The results showed: (1) an exponential growth of article and conference paper publications in 2022, all indexed in journals of subject areas such as engineering and computer science; (2) four more industries influenced by i5.0, where the electronics sector leads well above manufacturing, energy and public service; (3) seven research topics associated with i5.0 that deal with the transition from industry 4.0 to 5.0; and (4) six little-explored research topics that would help i5.0 move to a new stage and which are related to environmental sustainability, social sustainability, cobots, bioeconomy, smart cities, and sentiment analysis. This study found a gap in the industry 5.0 literature; therefore, this document serves as a guide for future research.

Objective. In the present work, the bibliographical production referring to smart contracts is reviewed from the business, academic and scientific points of view. The aim is to analyze precisely how the relationship between smart contracts and blockchain occurs to establish a context in both developments. Design/Methodology/Approach. The Scopus database was consulted using the keyword: “smart con-tract”. It was decided to use the SciMAT bibliometric tool for the bibliometric study with the approach based on a joint analysis of words and the h-index to visualize diagrams and thematic areas relatively simply for two periods: 2010-2018 and 2019-2021. Results/Discussion. It was necessary to know the concept of smart contracts for the future of contract law and the digital economy. Some institutions and people will be against considering them as autho-rized legal alternatives; However, due to the technological advance currently being presented, their development will only be a matter of time. Conclusions. Smart contracts are a technological innovation that, through blockchain technology, carry out transactions safely, quickly and with almost no risk of non-compliance.

Workforce agility has been described as a management strategy that allows companies to respond quickly and effectively to threats and opportunities arising from a competitive and unstable business environment. In the current literature, there is still a lack of efforts to systematically review the state of the art on this subject. The aim of this paper is to address this gap by studying the academic progress on workforce agility. A systematic literature review was carried out to analyze the academic articles within the workforce agility topic that were published online until the end of June 2020 in three electronic databases: Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, and Science Direct. The bibliometric indicators present how the field has developed and which actors (authors, institutions, countries, journals) are the most relevant. Regarding the conceptual aspects, the findings allowed us to identify that an agile workforce consists of four interrelated and interdependent dimensions: proactivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience, and competence. These attributes can be promoted through strategies related to i) learning and training, ii) forms of work organization, iii) human resource management; and iv) culture and organizational structure. Our findings also allowed us to propose an agenda for future studies on workforce agility and other related topics. This paper contributes by promoting a debate on a subject still incipient in the literature, especially in Latin America, and by highlighting the potential competitive advantage associated with workforce agility for companies.

The rise of Industry 4.0 tools transforms the way production plants are planned, controlled, and monitored, allowing organizations to achieve greater flexibility, efficiency, and cost reduction. This way, the use of emerging technologies provides a new look at the industrial sector, particularly concerning sustainability issues in a society that suffers worsening effects from climate change. On the other hand, the degree of success when implementing Industry 4.0 practices in sustainable-oriented manufacturing systems is closely related to hard decision-making, which involves, in practice, multiple and even conflicting criteria to model multidimensional problems. For that reason, it is worth recognizing the importance of the multi-criteria decision-making/aid (MCDM/A) approach to support decision modeling and application so that this research field can be better explored to enhance Industry 4.0 implementation and innovative advances in operations management. Given this backdrop, this paper undertakes a systematic literature review (SLR) of 118 papers, thereby combining a set of predefined keywords with several exclusion criteria to detect the literature that is related to sustainable decisions in manufacturing systems that introduced Industry 4.0 practices in the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) database. Cross-matching important research metrics from these papers encourages this work to provide readers with two axes of discussion with the aid of five research questions: a bibliometric analysis and a content analysis. Among many findings, some guidelines for decision-making are put forward to share insights and provide decision-makers, scholars, experts, stakeholders, and other professionals with an overall managerial background when applying sustainable-oriented multicriteria models in manufacturing systems.

Goal: Present a holistic perspective of methods and tools for the development of Product Service Systems (PSS). Design / Methodology / Approach: The investigation was conducted in two phases. The first phase presents bibliographic and bibliometric analyses, where 132 papers were read in full. In the second stage, of conceptual development, bibliographic data was grouped and validated by PSS specialists through a questionnaire, whose responses were used to conceptualize a model for PSS development. Results: Elaboration of a concept of a model for the development of Product-Service Systems, capable of providing guidance for all stages of its life cycle. Limitations of the investigation: The proposed model was applied to the bike sharing business model. However, a limitation was the lack of some information regarding this case to apply some methods and tools proposed in the conceptual model. Practical implications: The model developed can be used as a guideline for the elaboration or improvement of a PSS proposal, since it provides structure and control to the business models. Originality / Value: The paper demonstrates its originality and relevance by presenting a model centered on a holistic approach, as it provides a perspective of the whole PSS life cycle. Thus, processes are planned and analyzed from the definition of requirements to the destination after use of the PSS.

Firms face several challenges related to sustainability in global logistics operations. In response to this new dynamic, logistics has evolved into what is now known as smart logistics or Logistics 4.0, which has been in constant change for the past 10 years. This evolution has occurred within the framework of Industry 4.0 and has been called to be the pillar that guarantees sustainability in firms through the development and implementation of innovative and disruptive technological solutions. A systematic analysis of the literature related to the role of logistics 4.0 in business sustainability in the agro-industrial sector was carried out. A bibliometric and content analysis was performed on the 56 publications identified from 2015 to 2021 in the Scopus, ScienceDirect and Springer databases. The bibliometric research method used was the joint analysis of keywords using VOSviewer, followed by a content analysis of the selected articles. The bibliometric analysis made it possible to identify that publication in this field is low and growing. Logistics 4.0 contributes considerably to the sustainability of firms in general, and even more to the agro-industrial sector through digital technologies and new business models, allowing the creation of competitive advantages in agro-industrial firms.

Capital structure is one of the central themes of Corporate Finance. The development of theories and the range of empirical research on the behaviors and determinants of the capital structure are striking. Despite this interest in the subject, few studies have focused on the characteristics of this academic production, especially work on female participation. Thus, this study aims to analyze the female participation in academic production on capital structure in Brazilian periodicals. The collection of the articles of the sample was done through Portal Periodicos/Capes, SciELO and SPELL databases. The non-probabilistic sample, obtained from the search in the databases, comprised 195 articles, written by 412 authors from 97 different institutions, published by 66 journals. Through the bibliometric analysis, it was observed that the female participation is smaller than the male participation. The main findings identified that only 29% of the authorship of the articles belonged to women; that historically female participation is lower than male participation; that authors prefer to produce their articles in partnership and the more authors there are in an article, the greater the presence of women in that article; the highest titers had a smaller contingent of women; of the most productive authors, only three are women; female participation was higher than male participation in only two of the 11 most representative institutions.

Asset management is a contemporary research area that coordinates activities to realize value from assets in organizations. Consolidated with the international ISO 55000 series, it has become an active field of infrastructure. In this context, this paper aims to map the literature on asset management through a bibliometric analysis. In order to have a comprehensive mapping, a bibliometric approach was conducted in three steps: data collection, data processing and extraction of results. The analysis processes focused on publication trends, key research areas, main sources of publication, contributing authors and countries and its collaboration as main topics of bibliometric. A total of 2,449 documents related to asset management was collected according to the search protocol. Publication trends identified a rapid growth over the past 15 years on asset management and a concentration of documents in five research areas: Financial and business, Infrastructure, Maintenance, Optimization and Management. The source of publications and contributing authors were both identified not only by the greatest number of documents on the field but their relevance by citation index. Lastly, the USA, England, Canada, Australia and China were found to be the most publishing countries and strong international collaborators on asset management. Thus, these findings are expected to contribute to researchers around the world as bibliometric mapping is an interesting approach to provide a detailed overview of a scientific field and insights for further research.

This study used the meta-analysis to contrast research on sustainable development and its measurement within companies from different countries and Colombia. We used bibliographic selection criteria, proposing a conceptual classification scheme (ccs), with search equations applying Boolean operators, which allow reaching a conclusion by answering the five questions posed in the ccs. Articles from the last ten years and an analysis of the research trend on the topic raised were used, evidencing the agreement of the results and the selection criteria with the ccs. At the end of the study, it was possible to show that in the Asian and European countries, the leading researchers are concerned with environmental sustainability, social commitment and economic investment in technological development. Latin American countries show that companies only focus on financial growth rather than environmental or social impacts, which is detrimental to sustainable development.

Performance measurement indicators are widely used by organizations in order to assess, measure and classify organizational performance. As part of performance measurement systems, indicators are often shared or compared to different internal sectors of the organization, or even with other companies. However, some indicators are associated with vagueness and imprecision. In these cases, literature related to time representation can clarify the need for the semantic representation of indicators. This work seeks to analyse the studies available, selected after bibliometric review, on the semantic representation of time through ontologies. The purpose of this is to identify a knowledge model which best served the purpose of representing time in the performance indicators’ context. After applying the METHONTOLOGY methodology, it was concluded that the most suitable option is the SWRL Temporal Ontology, due to its ability to represent fine levels of granularity for points of time.

This article aimed to analyze academic productions about digital entrepreneurship by women. There is the following research problem: how are approaches related to digital entrepreneurship by women being discussed in the academic literature? The study is qualitative and descriptive. Data were collected in April 2021, on the Web of Science, using the Proknow-C method. The initial search presented 637 articles and after applying the method, the final sample consisted of 17 articles, which were categorized and analyzed. Data were treated through systematic and bibliometric analysis, with the aid of the VOSviewer Software. The results obtained revealed that digital entrepreneurship by women has been driven by social inclusion, female empowerment, poverty reduction and stimulus to regional economic growth and development. The entrepreneurs in question, however, are still operating in an incipient way in the digital economy. Theoretical contributions indicate the urgency of developing and stimulating digital entrepreneurship by women, especially in marginalized contexts.

The demand for innovative approaches applied to productive sectors is a reality present in the circular economy and open innovation is a relatively new concept that has revolutionized the literature about innovation management. Since the concept appeared in 2003, many articles have focused on its development and application. Although some studies have connected open innovation with sustainability, the relevance of this current on the global literature about open innovation is still unidentified. In this context, this paper tries to cover this gap with a bibliometric analysis focused on the evolution of the open innovation paradigm and the relevance of sustainability in this field of research. A sample of 3087 papers published between 2003 and 2019 in the Scopus database was obtained. The analysis revealed the main topics and the most prolific journals, authors, institutions, and countries, in terms of productivity, citations, and h-indexes. Besides of these contributions, keywords analysis reveals that, in recent years, sustainability and ecosystems are decisive variables in open innovation research.

Phase change slurries (PCSs) have great potential as both a heat transfer fluid and an energy storage medium for cooling processes, cold energy storage, and cold energy transportation due to desirable thermophysical properties. One of the major benefits of PCSs compared to pure phase change materials is their fluidity, thus making them cooled or heated by a heat exchanger, pumped through pipes, discharged, and stored directly in a thermal energy storage tank. The use of encapsulated phase change slurries and gas hydrate slurry has thus attracted considerable interest as reflected in the literature with a rising number of publications and institutions involved in the area. The use of bibliometric techniques has found a recent interest in the literature to define the progress of different scientific topics and inspire researchers to identify novelties. In this paper, bibliometric analysis and a detailed systematic review are carried out to show the state-of-the-art development of PCSs for cooling applications. Research gaps and hotspots are identified to help define future perspectives on this topic.

In addition, the maintenance of some themes indicates that these important ones continue and seek theoretical / methodological density.

The Product-service system (PSS) concept has been heavily discussed within the literature, emphasizing its refinement, barriers to implementation and design methodologies. In this sense, the role of public policies and governments has been overlooked, being discussed by very few articles. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the public policy and regulation discussions within the product-service system literature in order to extract the main themes and characteristics. The research methods combined bibliometric and content analysis. Public policies are required in order to overcome barriers to implementation and diffusion of PSS such as corporate, cultural and regulatory barriers, through PSS-directed policies or indirectly linked to PSS policies.

This work shows how Corporative Social Responsibility (CSR) has been filtering into different management areas, providing an insight into its evolution, and presenting literature reviews and efforts to incorporate conceptualisations and recommendations on its application. In this work, CSR is associated with views from different fields of study in economics and business, highlighting diverse management fields; it seeks to explain the correlation between CSR and concepts from such fields of study, suggesting that there is a need to order and question the current understanding of CSR and show its relevance so it can be considered an area of specialisation within the management of businesses.

IntroductionThe fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0 (I.D. 4.0), has radically empowered professionals to revamp skills and technologies, to match ever-evolving industry demands. Education 4.0 (E.D. 4.0) is an integral education framework, strategically designed to align with I.D. 4.0 needs. The present work presents high-level insights on mapping I.D. 4.0 to E.D. 4.0, by successfully analyzing the four key existing components of E.D. 4.0, namely, learning methods, competencies, infrastructure and information and communication technologies (ICT). MethodsResearch questions are formulated along themes aiming to standardize the E.D. 4.0 framework and identify effectiveness and implementation challenges. These posed questions are addressed by performing an exhaustive bibliometric analysis on the associated literature, by clustering relevant publications by field, year, and geography. We employed the search engines Scopus, Science Direct, and IEEE in a period between January and June of 2022. ResultsNetwork maps evidence the implementation of E.D. 4.0 elements with no formal and universally adopted framework to map with I.D. 4.0. There is an increasing interest and support from researchers and education institutions in preparing a skilled workforce for I.D. 4.0. Trends of E.D> 4.0-related published articles reveal more implementation efforts in developed countries compared to developing countries. DiscussionOur results demonstrate a lack of any currently existent, standardized, and universally accepted framework for mapping I.D. 4.0 to E.D. 4.0, despite trends showing a sharp rise towards incorporating E.D. 4.0 initiatives recently into university curricula. Our analysis procedure can serve as a protocol to define E.D. 4.0 in a more specific context, in an ever-changing global workspace. While unbalanced implementation attempts on how extensively E.D. 4.0 components have been defined and adopted (including discrepancies in implementation policies among countries, and across disciplines), further rigorous assessments are needed to critically assess the necessary requirements and effectiveness, for standardization and implementation a global mapping framework.

The purpose of this article was to contribute to the family firms literature by mapping worldwide scientific research on socioemotional wealth. The results show that these concepts have become relevant in recent years; however, further theoretical development and empirical studies are required. In addition, four perspectives were established in which the attention of researchers in this field of study is grouped. Finally, contributions, limitations, and future academic works related to family firms and socioemotional wealth are exposed.

Purpose: The evolution of the socio-cognitive structure of the field of knowledge management (KM) during the period 1986-2015 is described. Design/methodology/approach: Records retrieved from Web of Science were submitted to author co-citation analysis (ACA) following a longitudinal perspective as of the following time slices: 1986-1996, 1997-2006, and 2007-2015. The top 10% of most cited first authors by sub-periods were mapped in bibliometric networks in order to interpret the communities formed and their relationships. Findings: KM is a homogeneous field as indicated by networks results. Nine classical authors are identified since they are highly co-cited in each sub-period, highlighting Ikujiro Nonaka as the most influential authors in the field. The most significant communities in KM are devoted to strategic management, KM foundations, organisational learning and behaviour, and organisational theories. Major trends in the evolution of the intellectual structure of KM evidence a technological influence in 1986-1996, a strategic influence in 1997-2006, and finally a sociological influence in 2007-2015. Research limitations: Describing a field from a single database can offer biases in terms of output coverage. Likewise, the conference proceedings and books were not used and the analysis was only based on first authors. However, the results obtained can be very useful to understand the evolution of KM research. Practical implications: These results might be useful for managers and academicians to understand the evolution of KM field and to (re) define research activities and organisational projects. Originality/value: The novelty of this paper lies in considering ACA as a bibliometric technique to study KM research. In addition, our investigation has a wider time coverage than earlier articles.

Finally, the study has as main contribution the proposal of future studies on MSMEs.

The purpose of this study is to review the literature associated with research on Corporate Social Responsibility and Latin America through a scientific mapping analysis supported by bibliometric tools. The methodology applied consists of a search in the Web of Science database, followed by analyzing and classifying documents through the tree analogy. This classification comprises three groups organized as root, trunk, and leaves, established explicitly as classic, structural and recent documents. Each group analyzes the impact and relevance of the topic of CSR. The results reveal the structure of this area of knowledge, thus finding an approach that can provide conceptual guidance to companies interested in opting for CSR strategies within the framework of disclosure, financial performance, and sustainable development.

Given the current competition into markets, it’s necessary for companies to monitor their practices and results in order to ensure competitiveness. To survive these challenges and compete successfully, organizations need to monitor processes through key performance indicators (KPIs). Currently, indicators are analyzed in an isolated way within the organizations. Therefore, it’s important that companies use a harmonization approach both in the creation and monitoring process of indicators. Based on it, this article carries out a research to find the state of the art and the research opportunities. To do that, a bibliographic portfolio was constructed and bibliometric and systemic analyzes were performed. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Goal: We aims to map the literature that correlates uncertainty management and Open Innovation at project level, identifying the main contributions of knowledge management.Design/Methodology/Approach: We applied the Systematic Literature Review – SLR approach associated with Bibliometric analysis. To sample compose we use the Scopus and Web of Science databases. We also use the Bibliometrix R package to managed the sample process compose and bibliometric analysis and content analysis to identify the main topics. Results: The contributions mainly discuss the performance of OI projects to generate competitive advantage for organizations. The sample are categorized in technical, market, organizational and resource uncertainties. There is a greater focus on market and organizational uncertainties justified by the propagation of uncertainty.Limitations of the investigation: Even with transparency in the analysis and sample composition, the discussions may be subject to subjective interpretations by the authors.Practical Implications: This study has managerial implications. Our study helps managers identify core KM mechanisms in OI projects that enable sharing, integration, and knowledge flow between the network partners. Our findings show that the main challenge lies in organizational culture and the change of mindset, which influences the opening to new partnerships, knowledge sharing, and internal and external partners’ trust to leverage innovation. For that, managers have to be aware of the KM barriers such as lack of trust or information asymmetry.Originality/ Value: We correlate uncertainties management in the OI projects, considering the influence of KM. We present conceptual maps. We identified emerging topics and we suggest a theoretical model of the research.

This article reviews the literature related to the concepts of social innovation and non-profit organizations, applying a bibliometric analysis to the last five years of publications in the Scopus platform and Web of Science. The results suggest that these concepts complement rather than exclude each other, as social innovation can add to the social value of this type of organization. The social commitment of non-profit organizations and its relevance to integrating an innovative approach in their management is also discussed as a way to confront social problems through innovation and promote more participation and development in the social sector.

Due to the financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurs and small businesses have had multiple difficulties accessing conventional types of financing. Crowdfunding platforms have gained popularity as an alternative means of online financing. The main objective of this research is to analyze the most important articles that may influence future studies on crowdfunding platforms in Latin America. This article analyzes the Scopus and Web of Science databases considering three of the four categories of crowdfunding based on capital flows: Reward, Equity, and Lending, using a systematic review of the literature and bibliometric analysis. This research resulted in a total of 1032 articles which, after applying the appropriate criteria, resulted in 55 selected articles. The results show that the number of studies conducted in the field of crowdfunding platforms is increasing. Crowdfunding platforms provide a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to obtain alternative financing and a new way for investors to invest their capital. With systematized access to information, the different actors can understand how the dynamics of crowdfunding platforms can stimulate the development of business projects, as well as the decision-making factor when investing. This document is of great interest to researchers and professionals who wish to increase their knowledge of crowdfunding platforms, especially those of Reward, Equity, and Lending, in addition to gaining knowledge on relevant conclusions and suggestions for future research.

Complex thinking is an important tool for effective decision-making, as it helps people to better understand uncertain situations by considering the multiple variables and relationships involved in a situation, thus being able to identify patterns and connections that would not otherwise be evident. This article presents the results of a bibliometric study to identify academic publications that consider the correlation between decision-making in the business area and complex thinking competency and its sub-competencies. The intention was to have a theoretical horizon that provides a complete overview of the current academic situation regarding the correlation of both professional skills to identify areas of opportunity for new studies. Methodologically, we conducted a literature review using Scopus and Web of Science databases under the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol from which a sample of 339 articles related to both topics was obtained. R, Rstudio, and Bibliometrix were used for the quantitative analysis of the data. The results showed an academic tendency to associate decision-making in business with critical thinking, paying little attention to the other sub-competencies of complex thinking. Furthermore, we found a concentration of research in specific universities and countries, repeating a tendency to study only a few sub-competencies. Overall, this work sheds light on the broad opportunity to link the complex thinking macro-competency with decision-making in business, to provide more extraordinary skills and tools to future professionals.

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology has attracted the interest of industrial professionals and researchers in the last years. This interest lies primarily in understanding the trends, benefits, and implications of AM technology on supply chain (SC) and logistics, as it requires reconfiguring the supply chain based on a distributed manufacturing strategy, closer to the consumer market, with shorter lead times and less raw materials. It still is an emerging field, and needs further study. Therefore, a better understanding of main trends will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about AM technology and its consolidation. This article seeks to investigate the implications of AM, as an advanced manufacturing model, on SC and logistics. A four-step research method was used to develop a systematic literature review and a bibliometric analysis on the AM implications in SC and logistics. The main implications of AM on SC and logistics were classified in seven key issues gathered as result of the literature review. Additionally, bibliometric study allowed understanding researches major trends in this field. The key aspects highlighted and characterized as major implications of AM on SC and logistic are: supply chain complexity reduction; more flexible logistics and inventory management; better spreading and popularization of mass customization; decentralization of manufacturing; greater design freedom and rapid prototyping; increasing of resource efficiency and sustainability, and the need to have clearly defined legal and safety aspects.

Purpose – This paper aims to study the FinTech enterprises and the management theories related to this subject in a scientific way. Design/methodology/approach – This study is a bibliometric study on FinTech enterprises. Its origin is a survey of 1,749 papers in 6 traditional peer-reviewed academic databases (e.g. Science Direct and Scopus) and in the “gray” literature, published by other agents and not subject to double-blind peer review. In this analysis we use three approaches: academic paper or not; journal main interest, and main purpose of the paper. Findings – The first approach shows 45% of papers without blind review. The second approach shows no concentration on any journal. It represents no concentration on any kind of specific journal. And the third approach shows four kinds of contents in all researched papers: FinTech categorizations; FinTech related to theory of disruptive innovation; FinTech and theories of administration or economy; and finally, FinTech and regulatory and legislative aspects. Originality/value – The findings identified the emergence of new research strands, precedence of studies of “gray” literature to explain the phenomenon, distribution of studies in different fields of knowledge (e.g. information technology, business and law) and lack of consensus in theories to explain the matter.

Given the importance of fostering entrepreneurship, this study analyzes the influence of entrepreneurial education on university students with an entrepreneurial penchant. A literature review (2010-2020 period) using a search equation in the Web of Science database, identified 80 relevant publications, subsequently, reviewed using a documentary analysis technique that included content analysis, examination of bibliometric indicators and keyword co-occurrences. Findings reveal that most of the theoretical-empirical studies used the Ajzen’s Planned Behavior Model to identify individual and contextual predictors to determine entrepreneurial intention. It also highlights the use of a positivist research paradigm based on a quantitative and cross-sectional approach using surveys and multivariate statistical analysis (structural equations) as study methodologies. It was determined that most studies stem from Asia and Europe with few originating in Latin America. A significant and positive effect was observed with regards to the impact of entrepreneurial education on entrepreneurship intention. However, this was dependent on the context of the study and the type of training provided. Effective entrepreneurship programs were linked to more dynamic and practical entrepreneurial training, aligned to the context and characteristics of the student body. We encourage a more profound analysis of pedagogical factors that, ultimately, influence student attitudes towards entrepreneurship.

The objective of this research was to map the profile of scientific production on the internationalization strategy of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), both nationally and internationally, from 2012 to 2021, through a bibliometric study with a quantitative approach, with with the intention of presenting a comparative analysis and identifying how Brazil is compared to other countries. The Scopus database (CAPES) was used, plus the VOSviewer tool. Internationalization is an important and complex achievement for companies and has become a widely studied topic in the field of SMEs; however, Brazil has little prominence. This study presents a broad view of thematic publications, allowing a current investigation of their transmission in scientific productions, aiming to fill the gap observed in the literature, especially that produced in Brazil. The results meant that exploratory, qualitative research and case studies were predominant, and that publications on the subject of research grew, with 2020 being the peak of publications, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, which cause negative economic and financial impacts, mainly on SMEs, thus arousing greater interest for the researcher. Despite the growing interest in the subject in the period surveyed, Brazil had only 1.8% of the publications. Note in the research that there is a predominance of good Qualis concepts (A1 and A2). It was also noticed that the co-citation network among the 10 most cited authors revealed a thematic, methodological and/or conceptual proximity between them, revealing lines of thought or seminal research that influenced the other authors of the researched journals. Finally, this research aims to serve as a stimulus for future work related to and/or involving this topic that is so important for small and medium-sized organizations, in addition to being able to serve as a source for further research, mainly in Brazil.

There is evidence about the international competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises having a close relationship with their absorptive capacity and internationalization networking, and for that reason, it is relevant to find out the main trends in this field of knowledge. The objective of this study is to provide a bibliometric analysis of the status of the existing research in the field to recognize main topics and help identify research gaps. This study was done through a review of 1,710 documents published about this relationship from the Scopus and Web of Science databases (1994-2018), using as processing software application that employs two combinations of terms associated with Boolean operators. This was taken into account in order to optimize the accuracy of the search and to facilitate large data capture. The results show that these studies are in a period of high production and concentrated in a few countries and researchers’ networks in the United States, the People’s Republic of China, and some European countries. Moreover, the trend words used by researchers are those which link absorptive capacity with networking, open innovation, and firm performance.

This study verifies the scientific production that uses Granovetter’s new economic sociology (NSE) in studies on entrepreneurship and innovation. A bibliometric study was carried out, selecting works from the Scopus database, organizing them into two samples: one with works that focus on entrepreneurship and the other with works that focus on innovation, in order to carry out comparative analyzes between the two fields of study. A qualitative analysis of four main articles extracted from the sample was also carried out, for a better visualization of a research agenda. Granovetter’s SES emphasizes relationships between individuals, especially their economic and organizational actions. In entrepreneurship and innovation studies, the approach discusses the effects of interpersonal relationships on entrepreneurial actions and innovation processes, influencing the economic behavior of agents. As a result of the analysis, this study points out the main references, authors, countries and relationship networks. In addition, this research also contributes with suggestions for future research on the NSE from the perspective of Granovetter in the themes of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Scientific publications on social innovation and interest in the subject have grown substantially in the last decade, evidencing the need for more studies in this direction. This study aimed to map the scientific publications and intellectual structure in the field of social innovation, through a bibliometric study. The bibliometric survey specifically considered the period 2006-2021, through data indexed by the SCOPUS database, which included journals with a high impact factor. A total of 1192 articles were analyzed using the software VOSviewer (VOS) 1.6.15, to graphically map the material. The results showed explosive growth in the academic literature on social innovation in the last decade; moreover, they allowed the identification of the main authors, articles, topics, institutions, and countries in the field. From the analyses, a theoretical framework structured with four main emphases (clusters) was evidenced: (1) social entrepreneurship and the third sector; (2) strategic management and innovation; (3) sociopolitical aspects, urban development, and governance; and (4) innovation and sustainability.

The metrology area is responsible for measurement properties and is present in the market through services related to calibration, standardization, maintenance, measurement traceability, and certification. While there is a demand from metrology companies for efficient methods of managing the quality of their services and operations, lean culture encompasses the most important management techniques with applications in various segments. Considering the aspects that permeate these two areas, the question arises about a possible intersection between the demands of companies and metrology laboratories to remain competitive and certified in the market and benefits provided by lean culture. Thus, this paper performs a systematic review, according to the PRISMA protocol, in order to verify if there is an intersection between lean and metrology in the scientific literature. Through bibliometric and qualitative analyses, the research shows a gap of application with a lack of articles in this area, as well as a great potential of places and tools to be implemented.

The term social enterprise has gained notoriety since 2006, when Muhammed Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with Grameen Bank, resulting in a new business concept and the proposal of a new capitalist model. Social enterprises are focused on solving social, economic and environmental problems that have long plagued humanity, such as hunger, disease, pollution and homelessness. Due to the growing literature on social enterprises and the fragmentation of theories and concepts surrounding this term, this study investigates and shows that research on social enterprises develops over time. The research consists of a bibliometric analysis based on citation data from articles, books, and other materials available in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science database. This study analyzed 1063 articles on social enterprises dating from 2008 to 2018, noting that the number of publications on social enterprises changes over time.

This paper analyzes the research studies on social entrepreneurship (SE) and maps out the study axes on this subject. A bibliometric method was used in order to analyze 296 scientific papers available in Scopus database, which were published between 1988 and 2016. The study made it possible to verify the evolution of the study of SE throughout the time, authorship and co-authoring, as well as retrieval of similar words. The results yielded four research categories: SE studies, society, education and housing policies. An exploratory factor analysis resulted in six factors that map the study fields in ES. The research study revealed the difficulty to define the notion of SE, the motivations of social entrepreneurs, as well as their traits and competences.

This article presents the results of a bibliometric study that aimed to identify academic publications that considered the relationship between social entrepreneurship and the competency of complex thinking and its sub-competencies. The intention is to create a theoretical horizon that provides a complete overview of the current academic correlation between both competencies to identify areas of opportunity for new studies. Methodologically, we reviewed the Scopus and Web of Science databases under the PRISMA protocol. R, RStudio, and Bibliometrix were used to quantitatively analyze the data. The results showed that the number of related publications was minimal and corresponded to current studies, which sheds light on the vast possibilities to analyze the relationship between both variables.

Firms are increasingly organized around the client. At the same time, there is customer pressure on green and sustainable organizations. The purpose of this paper is to map the current state of the research in the domain of customer-centric organizations from a sustainability perspective. We conducted a bibliometric analysis from published documents between 1990 and 31 July 2020. Key findings indicate that research on customer centricity and sustainability has increased in recent years, finding some trends and that the topic is structured into three clusters: (1) Sustainable Development, Customer-Centric Perspective, and Sales; (2) Sustainability and Commerce; and (3) Customer-Centricity and Sustainability Trends. The implementation of a bibliometric methodology and the focus given to the definition, the relationships, and the evolution of the three main clusters within the topic are the characteristics that differentiate our study from other publications or reviews in the field of research. In addition, all the documents that refer to practical cases were identified, and the main ones were analyzed, to provide highlights to practitioners who aim to deploy the customer centricity approach in their firms from a sustainable perspective and seeking that the corporate purpose is followed.

Despite the existence of systematic reviews or bibliographic studies on social entrepreneurship and social innovation in isoation, few studies address these two issues together. The objective of this study was to map an academic production on social entrepreneurship and social innovation with a bibliometric technique as a research method. The Scopus database was used for the analysis of citations, co-citations, and textual analysis. Results point to the growth in scientific interest in analyzing these two issues together. However, it is observed that the emphasis of these studies is on social entrepreneurship and that social innovation appears as a secondary aspect, characteristic or result of the entrepreneurial process.

The possibility of broadening the understanding of the concepts of risk, risk management, risk management and ABNT ISO 31000 can contribute to mitigate possible gaps related to the theme in the organizational environment. In this context, this research aimed to identify the characteristics and structures of the panorama of organizational risk in companies from scientific papers published and indexed in academic bases in the last 18 years. The present bibliometric study identified and analyzed 119 Brazilian studies published between 2000 and 2019, in scientific and academic journals, being Spell, Scielo and Google Scholar, with research delimiters regarding the “title” and “abstracts”, using as bibliographic research methodology, whose nature is quantitative using the method of bibliometric analysis. As for the results obtained, it was found that the concept of risk management presents a relevant capillarity in academic discussions, but the ISO 31000 standard is still little embroidered in research in Brazil. Another relevant characteristic is that accounting journals presented a greater frequency of discussion. of topics related to risk management.

Purpose: Given its large number of publications, the subject “strategy” stands out as an important field of scientific literature with multidisciplinary characteristics, involving the most varied research areas. The aim of this paper is to analyse the state of the art on business strategy, which have enabled the identification of the characteristics of the most influential articles and authors. Methodology/Approach: This article is a literature review based on bibliometric parameters, which the main novelty has been the identification of specific characteristics of the main publications and researchers on business strategy during the peak production period of 1998-2017. Findings: The main contribution of this article is to guide researchers interested in developing studies related to business strategy, highlighting the subject’s chronological evolution and the correlations analyses among publications. Research Limitation/Implication: The searches and selection of bibliometric parameters have been limited to two of the most relevant databases (Scopus and Web of Science). Another restriction was that only articles and reviews containing the term “business strategy” in their respective titles were considered. Originality/Value of paper: Although bibliometric studies have already been published in managerial and strategic areas and subareas, the scientific literature still lacks articles with the same level of details and analysis performed in this paper, which portrays the main novelty of this research.

This study aims to provide a bibliometric analysis of business failure research, recognise the main existing research topics and establish future research challenges. The results, based on a sample of 588 articles, show that the number of published papers and citations has grown steadily, especially in the last 14 years. The most productive and relevant journals, countries, institutions and authors are presented using bibliometric performance indicators. In addition, through the graphical mapping of strategic diagrams, this study identifies the most significant research trends and proposes several directions for future research. The results of this research may be helpful for beginner researchers and experts in business failure, as they contribute to bringing clarity to this line of investigation. These results reveal all the aspects involved in business failure research, analysing its temporal and methodological characterisation, and the most prolific authors who have participated in its study (see, i.e., H. Li), leading journals (see, i.e., Expert Systems with Applications) or academic institutions that have headed the scientific analysis of this business phenomenon. Likewise, it has been possible to identify three main areas in which the research on business failure has been focused: business, management and accounting; economics, econometrics and finance; and social sciences. The social innovation concept was developed in 2006, which is why it is considered a new term in the construction stage. This article aims to present the beginning, evolution, and current trends of social innovation, in addition to showing the seminal authors and those with the highest number of publications, journals with publication trends on the subject, the methodologies used, and the countries that support this research. The methodology consisted of a literature systematic review through its bibliometric analysis with the application of graph theory. Among the most outstanding findings is that the concept is heterogeneous without defined limits. Its analysis was generated at four levels: general, macro, meso, and micro, each with its internal tendencies. However, there are still methodological deficiencies related to theoretical frameworks for the concept of investigation and the absence of sectorial studies with specific cases that show the application of social innovation.

Objective. The study aims to investigate, present and discuss the concepts, contexts and applications regarding the use of trademarks as indicators, revealing what can be understood from trademark applications and which conclusions can be inferred based on the publications found. Method. To meet the objectives, techniques of systematic review, bibliometric and systemic analyzes were employed. Using the Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer programs, evaluations of publications per year, periodic impact factor, citations, and network analyzes about co-authorship, citations, filiation, terms used and cocitation of references were made. The objective of this article is to record the trends of study regarding the relationships between resources and capabilities, through a review of the literature of its definitions and typologies from 1984-2016, followed by a bibliometric analysis during the period 2001-2016. For this analysis, we used records of the Web of Science. The analysis includes indicators of annual productivity, by countries and authors, most productive magazines and most cited articles. A low productivity was identified, 2010 being the year with the largest number of articles published. The United States leads in number of articles related to the topic. The most cited articles were published in 2003 and the most productive authors have 3 publications each. Thus, important academic gaps are evident, which is why future study paths are suggested.

Through a bibliometric analysis, this research maps the scientific production on Success in Public Projects in journals made available on the Web of Science database, covering all publications made available until the end of May 2019. The sample comprised 248 articles published in 154 international journals. The results show that attention to the topic has grown considerably since 2013. However, Brazilian relevance is very low, when compared to countries such as the United States, China, England and Australia, which together represent almost 50% of the sample, while Brazil represents less than 1%, which brings an alert of the need for research on the topic. The papers were analyzed and the Critical Success Factors were classified according to Shenhar, Dvir & Levy (2001), being the factors: Preparation for the Future (39%) and Business Success (27%) the ones that appeared more frequently. For the literature, this research contributes to a framework on the theme. For project managers, this research contributes to a list of the critical factors most mentioned in the literature, which can help them to increase the success rates in their public projects.

The objective of this research was to map the international scientific production on digital entrepreneurship. To achieve this purpose, exploratory, descriptive and bibliometric research was conducted, with a quantitative approach. The measurement of scientific production was based on the three classic laws of bibliometry: Bradford’s Law, Zipf s Law and Lotka’s Law. The study followed the steps defined by Sousa, Fontenele, Silva and Filho (2019) for conducting bibliometric research, namely: selection of the database and bibliometric software, definition of the sample, survey of the sample, tabulation and treatment of descriptive data, and data analysis. The data were collected in the Web Of Science database and tabulated in the Excel software. To analyze the bibliometric networks of co-occurrence of keywords and citation (authors and journals), the VOS Viewer software was used. This study shows in general the main thematic currents explored in the international scenario on digital entrepreneurship: Digital Transformation, Strategy, Data Science and Digital Innovation. It also signals other aspects related to the construct, offering a theoretical support for other research, especially to broaden the field of knowledge on the subject analyzed.

Always looking for innovation and prominence in the labor market, companies from different areas are always aiming to improve issues of development and monitoring of production. Virtualization of existing resources is being widely discussed and solicited by companies as a whole, involving both design and manufacturing sectors. The choice to emphasize the application of Digital Twin is due to the fact that it is a digital replica, a virtual version of a system, helping companies to develop, improve and evaluate their products, optimizing the process, improving production, reducing costs and helping the improvement of the final product. This article presents a bibliometric analysis of the subjects related to Digital Manufacturing, focusing on the application of Digital Twin and also researches involving systems monitoring with the transfer of information in real time. For the construction of knowledge, the realization of this research was chosen using the ProKnow-C method (Knowledge Development Process) assisting the author in the theoretical basis of the subject in question. The development of this method consists of the first moment in the selection of the articles to form a bibliographic portfolio, searching for publications by keywords relevant to the research; later the bibliographic analysis of these articles found in databases respected, quantitatively evaluating those of greater relevance, as well as recurrent authors and periodicals, focused on the subject; in a third moment the practice of a systematic analysis of this portfolio is important, raising more recurring problems, possible proposed solutions and existing gaps in this area so that; in the end it is possible to define the research question as well as the general and specific objectives forming the knowledge base on the topic addressed. This article presents a survey on the subject in question, demonstrating research involving real-time monitoring with the use of sensors and actuators, as well as emphasizing in Industry 4.0 with Internet of Things (IoT) mechanism and cyber-physical systems. Findings:Despite the descriptive analyses for the paper set, a framework is proposed for organizing the design-implementation factors of PMSs in non-profit organizations, identifying the main requirements for their successful development. Originality/Value:Investigation on performance measurement in non-profit organizations is still in its early stages of development with many opportunities to further develop the field. Conceptual frameworks and models, as well as specific theories, are being generated for this field of research, and the process of adapting models from the general field of performance measurement is taking place. The meta-framework that organizes the main research topics of PMS in non-profit organizations and the framework that consolidates factors that influence the design-implementation of PMSs in non-profit organizations developed represents this paper contribution.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) represents the ethical corporate behavior in relation to stakeholders to respond to their needs and expectations; however, it has been suggested that involving stakeholders in corporate management reduces the profit maximization and leads to losses. Thus, this paper intends to analyze theoretical and conceptual trends on stakeholders and CSR between 2012 and 2016 to contextualize their origin, characteristics, and perspectives. The systematic review methodology was followed, which stems from bibliometric analysis to identify patterns related with literature, impact studies, and theoretical-conceptual evolution. The results show that organizations must find a balance between their interests in profit and socially responsible practices through sustainable processes from the social, economic, and environmental perspectives.

The active contribution of academic institutions to the technological, social and economic development of societies is of increasing importance. To better understand this contribution, we present a systematic review, together with bibliometric and network analyses of the academic entrepreneurship literature. This provides a map of the main topics approached by scholars, thereby illustrating the scientific scenario of the field. Our findings identify three highly interconnected research activity domains that characterize the multidimensional features of entrepreneurship in the academic setting, as well as a significant gap in the literature regarding studies evaluating approaches to support the navigation of potential scientific discoveries to the market. We organize our findings into a four stages framework consisting of: idea inception; the recognition of how this idea unlocks value for customers and other stakeholders; development of an innovative business model; and a commercialization strategy that creates real impact. We discuss the relevance of each stage for the establishment of a more innovation-friendly environment and conclude by offering perspectives into future research opportunities and by encouraging studies that consider the academic entrepreneurship process from a systemic perspective, to support a greater contribution of academic institutions to the economic and social development of the nations and societies.

The Sustainable Development Model has gained great relevance in recent years, causing many institutions to adapt to it, including family businesses, which have generated different contributions and have addressed various issues for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, so this article focuses on conducting a systematic review to assess the status and evolution of research related to the coupling of family businesses to SD in its three dimensions (economic, social and environmental) and identify the most important issues within each of them. To achieve this, the study performs a bibliometric analysis and a systematic review of the literature based on 70 scientific articles, and the PRISMA protocol for systematic reviews was used as a reference. The results show a greater interest in the economic dimension and less attention to the social and environmental dimension, with particular emphasis on the themes of innovation and succession in these companies. It should be noted that scientific production is concentrated in developed countries in Europe, while other regions of the world, such as Latin America, make a marginal contribution, which could be interpreted as a disadvantage or a lag in the millennium goals in the region.

Research on open innovation (OI) has increased in recent years, showing its potential in various areas of knowledge. Its relation to small and medium-sized enterprises has attracted the attention of academics. This article aims to evaluate the intellectual structure of the scientific study of OI, and its close relationship with various scientific fields, through a bibliometric analysis of this academic field using the Scopus database and the application of the VOSviewer software. The methodology comprises a rigorous systematic and transparent process divided into four phases: (i) the establishment of search criteria for the research field, through a literature review for its selection; (ii) the selection of the database, the establishment of the search equation and extraction of information; (iii) the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria for the selected documents and an explanation of the usefulness of the software; and (iv) the analysis of the results through the approaches of scientific output performance and bibliometric mapping. The results show an increasing trend of IO publications in SMEs, consolidated in 396 articles with contributions from 65 countries and 947 authors. The intellectual structure shows seven themes related to firm performance, R&D networks, business management, business models, capabilities and knowledge transfer. This study contributes to the field by providing an overview of IO in SME contexts. It also provides insightful information to policymakers for developing policies for firm economic growth.

The objective of this research is to analyze the behavior of scientific production on SMEs, given their importance for the generation of jobs from the production and distribution of goods and services, thus contributing to the economic, social and family progress of the different countries. The research consisted of a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental, longitudinal and retrospective design. From a metric study carried out in the Scopus database, during the period 2016-2020, a total of 158 articles were obtained, where unidimensional bibliometric indicators of productivity were analyzed by: years, authors and keywords. Likewise, multidimensional bibliometric indicators, author collaboration and keyword co-occurrence were used using VOSviewer software and impact indicators to analyze the most cited authors and most cited articles. The results point to a decrease in scientific production per year, with the Spanish language prevailing in the publications. In conclusion, it should be noted that the research carried out contributes to determine the trends and behavior in this subject, where the research fronts that show the best collaborative relationships are three, it being significant that only in one of them the node represented by the keyword SMEs has the largest dimension, indicating that it leads this community.

Reuse and remanufacturing have been widely studied in the maintenance related literature due to the imperative of preserving resources and protecting the environment. To provide researchers with a holistic view of the existing research, there is a need to check how relevant methods have been developed. This paper undertakesa bibliometric analysis and a comprehensive literature review of maintenance policies and models that deal with reuse or remanufacturing as sustainable strategies. A total of 581 papers collected from Web of Science, Scopus, and IEEE Xplore databases were analysed. 53 of them were chosen for further investigation after four selection criteria were applied. The bibliometric analysis provided a general understanding of the publication trends while the literature review built a taxonomy that organises the related literature under the dimensions of models, businesses, and sustainable strategies, which creates novelty in the maintenance-sustainability related literature. The main contribution is the classification of related papers and identification of the main knowledge gaps, including the neglect of the environmental and social aspects of sustainability vis-à-vis the prioritisation of an economic perspective.

In entrepreneurship, its various theories and elements gain importance in the academic community for the orientation in the professional and entrepreneurial training processes that are being carried out by higher education institutions HEIs. Therefore, this paper provides a systematic review of the published literature based on the determinants of entrepreneurial intention. To that end, an analysis was conducted using bibliometric and network indicators within the Scopus data source, which was restricted to objective search criteria. The main findings show that, since 1943, certain success factors such as: attitude, learning, behavior, economic growth, education, value creation, incubation resources, personality traits, and entrepreneurial intentions have been linked.

The objective of this research is to analyze the scientific production indexed in the international Scopus database on the subject of “corporate social responsibility and corporate social performance” in small and medium-sized enterprises. In the literature, it is currently possible to observe how large corporations undertake social responsibility actions as a usual practice. However, in the case of small and medium-sized enterprises, the reality is different due to their high heterogeneity. To fulfil the proposed objective, a bibliometric analysis is carried out, identifying 277 articles on the subject. It is observed that scientific production is concentrated in a period of 18 years (2000-2018), the majority being qualitative studies.

Academia and organizations tend to agree on the importance they give to internal communication as a discipline of knowledge and as a strategic issue in organizational management. However, many organizations omit the systematic application of this type of communication and the academy has not produced, to date, a systematic body of knowledge. In order for these situations to be recognized and worked on, research work is necessary to build an integrating theoretical body. What this work proposes is to review the publications on internal communication (IC) to inquire about the recent advance in this knowledge and its applications. To accomplish this, four of the most important academic journals on communication in organizations were reviewed according to the SCImago Journal & Country Rank. They are: Public Relations Review, Management Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Strategic Communication and Journal of Communication Management. The period of analysis was carried out between 2015 and 2021. Bibliometric indicators used were: the number of articles on internal communication published, broken down by journal, year and number, most used words and phrases. The authors were also studied by analyzing the number of signatures per article, who published more on internal communication, as well as the most cited experts. The results in the 125 issues reveal a discreet presence of IC since of 1278 articles published, 126 dealt with the subject, which represented 9.87% of the total. The journal that published the most on IC was Public Relations Review with 38 articles, followed by Management Communication Quarterly with 35. Journal of Communication Management edited 32 articles, leaving International Journal of Strategic Communication as the journal that dealt with the subject the least with 21. All journals made special editions on various topics, but the Journal of Communication Management was the only one that made an extraordinary edition dedicated to IC under the title Internal Communication during the COVID-19 Pandemic published in volume 25, number 3, July 2021. The most productive year for IC was 2021 with 32 articles. Throughout the period, 55 issues were published without articles on IC, 36 with one, 20 with two, nine with three, four with four articles and only one issue with seven, the special edition. Among the most used words are employee (s), social, strategic, engagement, media and crisis. And the most used phrase after “internal communication” is “social media”. The most cited author was also the most productive in the period studied: Lijuan Rita Men. Other authors who published multiple times included Cen April Yue, Ana Tkalac Vera& Jeong Nam Kim, and Vibeke Thois Madsen. James Grunig, Ansgar Zerfass, Francois Cooren, Linda L. Putnam, Mary Welch, and W. Timothy Coombs were also frequently cited. In conclusion, and despite the increased interest caused by the pandemic, internal communication is not a priority issue in the reviewed journals. A greater emphasis on normative and instrumental aspects was also detected, with a clear orientation towards the solution of specific organizational problems, that is, a functionalist perspective, centered on management. This article seeks to support both scholars and professionals of internal communication, leaving within their reach, in addition to this review, the challenge of increasing research to generate knowledge in internal organizational communication.

Goal: This article aims to identify the reasons that lead to the low expression of entrepreneurship in the BRICS through a literature review on cultural dimensions by the main authors. Design / Methodology / Approach: The study was carried out through a bibliographic survey of the cultural dimensions in the cited authors, and of entrepreneurship in each one of the BRICS, in order to first define the cultural dimensions and values present in each nation and then explain the national entrepreneurial culture. Results: The results reveal that the entrepreneurial attitude of a population is influenced by the cultural traits of the nation to which it belongs and by some economic aspects. Even though economic aspects influence the initiative to entrepreneur, they could be influenced by the main sector in the economy, by the nature of the entrepreneurship (opportunity or necessity), and by the dimensions of the authors under study. Limitations of the investigation: The limitation of bibliographic research is the secondary source, which can produce contradictions. Practical implications: The study shows to the nations (and their governments) what aspects of their cultures they must invest more time to motivate people to entrepreneur (culture dimensions). Governments can propose to industries present in the main sector and financial institutions to support research and entrepreneurship in the universities, in incubators and in technology parks. Some laws can be created to support entrepreneurial activities, and reduce the number of people who entrepreneur by necessity. Originality / Value: The bibliometric study showed that there were not an article that united all five countries in a study about cultural dimensions and the low rate of entrepreneurship. This article contributes with this gap in the literature.

Many changes have come over the business with the onset of globalization and the digitization of the economy, including the last two years. In addition, relevant changes have been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating the relevance of innovation management (IM) within organizations as a process to face these new realities. This article aims to present the main contributions on innovation management in small- and medium-sized enterprises (IM in SMEs). To determine the state-of-the-art innovation techniques, the study systematically reviews articles related to this subject using a bibliometric study approach between 1985 and 2019 using the Web of Science (WoS) database. The study analyzes and presents the most cited articles, the main authors, institutions, countries, and the most productive journals. Additionally, VOSviewer was used to provide a more in-depth analysis of the data obtained from the search. Among the main results, it is clear that the most productive universities and the most influential and productive authors are in the United States, leaving a relevant possibility of taking this analysis to different countries, mainly developing countries, to adjust adequate innovation processes according to the specific realities of each country.

Due to its adaptability in being relevant to the economies of different countries, industries, and research fields, the creative economy (CE), a driving force behind the national economy for sustainable development, has recently garnered the attention of the academic community. This research examines the intellectual structure of this field using the Scopus database in the subject area of business, management and accounting. This study uses bibliometric analysis, a cutting-edge and rigorous technique for the exploration of scientific data. The employed methodology entails an organized and open procedure broken down into four phases: (1) search criteria; (2) selection of database and documents; (3) selection of software and data pre-processing; and (4) analysis of results. We use two approaches to learn about their structure by evaluating performance and observing their various connections through bibliometric mapping. The findings indicate that the creative economy is a burgeoning area of research, with 687 articles, 1340 authors, and 64 nations represented. In addition, the creative economy, the cultural industry, human capital, management, entrepreneurship, and business models are research topics. This study has several implications because it offers an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the trends in this topic, making it a helpful tool for researchers. It also identifies gaps in the literature that lead to possible lines of investigation in future studies.

The objective of this research was to review the manuscripts registered in the Scopus database related to business ecosystems during the period 2018–2022. A total of 96 documents were selected and examined under a bibliometric and bibliographic approach. The results showed an annual growth rate of 13.21%. The nine most studied topics were innovation ecosystems, collaborative ecosystems, sustainable business ecosystems, digital business ecosystems, ecosystems of the Internet of Things, circular ecosystems in companies, regulatory frameworks for digital business ecosystems, resilience of business ecosystems, and ecosystems in smart cities. Six unexplored themes were extracted for future research: ICT industries, smart contracts, electric vehicles, serious games, energy, and blockchain. It should be noted that this study is one of the most up to date, and 85.5% of the 96 publications were original studies, i.e., valuable information that supports the results.

Network data maps constitute a practical visual data-classification tool in structuring complex research literature endowed with multiple economic, social, and psychological relationships, as happens with the evolution of digital entrepreneurship as a research topic in the COVID-19 era. Has the digitalization process, accelerated by COVID-19, influenced entrepreneurship by strengthening digital entrepreneurship worldwide? Is innovation the most-cited keyword in the digital entrepreneurship-related literature published in the SCOPUS database from 2001 onwards? Does pay-per-click as an instrument for digital entrepreneurship management foster sustainable development? To answer these questions, we combine a software tool for constructing and visualizing bibliometric networks, VOSviewer version 1.6.18, with the SCOPUS bibliographic data tool to investigate the keyword ‘digital entrepreneurship.’ As a result, we obtained 2154 documents in the SCOPUS database for 2001–2022 in all 27 subject areas, of which 1055 documents were from BMA (Business, Management, and Accounting) and EEF (Economics, Econometrics, and Finance) areas. Regarding the keyword ‘pay-per-click,’ we obtained 63 papers for 2005–2022 from BMA and EEF subject areas. We find that there is a growing interest in researching digital entrepreneurship led by authors from the European Union and followed by the United States; innovation is the most-cited keyword in documents related to digital entrepreneurship, and researchers worldwide are giving more importance to the process of digitalization compared to the link between educational, economic, and technological factors and digital entrepreneurship. Regarding ‘pay-per-click,’ we find that the literature published on this topic is broadly based on the US, and given the small number of publications on this issue, it is a research area with great potential to investigate and publish about it.

Cooperation in research, development and innovation (RD&I) between universities or research institutes and industries plays a fundamental role in the economic development of a country. Industry benefits from state-of-the-art laboratories and technologies from academia, while institutes learn about business reality and market needs. Numerous barriers to the establishment and maintenance of these partnerships have been investigated and reported in the literature, but the information generated by these empirical studies is very fragmented and there is a need to consider the barriers systematically in order to clarify the topic. The aims of this systematic review were to analyze university-industry collaborations set up for the purpose of RD&I in an effort to recognize the barriers and facilitators of the process and to identify the approaches by which such barriers may be overcome. Following searches of the Scopus database and application of the exclusion criteria, 86 relevant articles were identified and submitted to bibliometric analysis. Subsequently, 75 articles were selected for in-depth content analysis, and the ideas embodied therein were presented in a structured and comprehensive manner. Barriers were evaluated according to three different theoretical perspectives, namely the triple helix and the entrepreneurial university, the relational social capital and value creation, and technology transfer and cultural differences. The facilitators were categorized as internal and external. The results obtained highlight the importance of fostering relational social capital and providing tax incentives to facilitate industry’s pursuit of innovation through academia partnerships, and also show that collaborative barriers in RD&I may be overcome to some extent by starting with smaller projects and gradually increasing their complexity. Based on the findings outlined in this review, we propose various lines for future research.

Goal: To analyse the intersection between the constructs of modularity and business model in the literature. Design/Methodology/Approach: Quantitative and Qualitative approaches were utilized through bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review. A bibliometric analysis incorporates keywords, co-citation, and country co-authorship networks generated using VosViewer Software. The research in the databases was carried out in June 2018. Results: The intersection of modularity and business model is a rather recent study topic in the literature with a small number of articles published up to 2018. Although the concept of modularity has been widely discussed in terms of product, process and organizational levels, recent developments point to the application of this concept to services and business models. Limitations: The main limitation refers to the sampling process that incorporated articles extracted from ISI Web of Science Core Collection only. Practical implications: For practice, it provides companies with insights on how business model and modularity may be applied to multiple domains and can eventually contribute to firm performance and business model innovation. Originality/Value: The originality of the article lies in providing a panorama of the literature on the intersection of business model and modularity in order to identify the main research trends.

This research aims to understand how sustainable business model innovation (SBMI) can learn from business model innovation. For this, first, we conducted a bibliometric analysis to evaluate the relationships between business model innovation and SBMI literature. After this, we performed a systematic literature review to create a comprehensive framework for managing SBMI. The bibliometric analysis showed that the SBMI stream grew quickly and significantly in recent years, evolving into a separated new research stream, which does not leverage recent business model innovation advancements. Through the performed analyses, we were able to discuss critical gaps in the SBMI literature and shed light on possible pathways to solve these gaps through lessons learned from business model innovation. We depicted five critical gaps for managing SBMI; (1) the need to understand the sustainable business model as a wicked problem, in which SBMI leads to “better than before” solutions calling for systematic SBMI, (2) the poor definition of distinctive dimensions of dynamic capabilities for SBMI, (3) the lack of studies exploring the role of open innovation for improving the SBMI process, (4) the lack of tools supporting SBMI implementation and (5) the need to explore game-changing, competitive advantages of SBMI. The findings of this study contribute to guiding future research on SBMI, which can be a basis for further efforts towards sustainable development.

Studies in organizational innovation have shown rapid growth in the last two decades, so it is necessary to perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of scientific production to know its current status and development in business activity. In this research, bibliometric analysis and mapping were performed on the publications indexed in the Scopus database between 1996 and 2015, obtaining relevant information on scientific production, contributions by region/country, institutions involved, topics and influential authors. A map of terms was generated that establishes research areas related to organizational systems, firm relations and organizational change, as well as a map of citations showing the disciplines of administration, dynamic capacities and organizational learning related to the subject of study and its main exponents. The findings of the study allow identifying areas of current interest and research potential in Organizational Innovation.

This study focuses on mapping international production on cost behavior, using bibliometrics, identifying gaps, practical cases and interfaces. For the construction of the analysis results, a bibliometric approach was used, with information obtained from the Web of Science periodicals database, where the record of 37 works that address the referred theme in the business areas was obtained. With the results of the research, it was possible to identify eleven gaps in the studies presented, bringing notes for the development of future works, that is, perspectives for the continuity of research involving the behavior of costs. In addition to these, practical cases involving cost behavior were also evidenced, where most of them correspond to studies focused on the industrial sector. Interface areas were also identified, these being areas that were related to the theme of cost behavior throughout the research, among the topics that were related to cost behavior, there are behavioral finance, marketing, health, logistics, agribusiness and organizational behavior as the areas with the most predominance of works related to the search filter, it can be inferred that the cost behavior is related to the most varied areas of knowledge, which allows a wide range of publications. As suggestions for future research, bibliometric analysis is pointed out in other research bases, in addition to the Web of Science, as well as the use of time frames before and after the one investigated, as well as the identification of the methodological strategies adopted in the scientific production that deals with the behavior of costs for the methodological alignment of future studies.

Family firms are the most ubiquitous form of business organization in any world economy. Family Business Re-view, Journal of Family Business Strategy, and Journal of Family Business Management are the three leading aca-demic journals exclusively dedicated to this type of firms. Since the inception of the first of the three journals in 1988, these outlets published 1381 articles dealing with family business. This study offers a comprehensive bibliometric overview of these contributions, thereby providing a complete overview of family business research conducted in the three dedicated journals in this field, and laying the ground for future developments. We do not limit our effort to describe the field from a bibliometric perspective, but furthermore unearth the most debated topics, link thematically the aspects emerging from our review, and offer promising avenues for future research.

This paper analyzes the theoretical relationship between knowledge and entrepreneurship through a bibliometric study. Several indicators are drawn from the Web of Science database using the HistCite software for bibliometrics, including annual publications, citation density, and journals with the highest number of publications. For the empirical application, a qualitative approach was adopted through a case study of four companies located in Valencia with the application of a semi-structured interview. The Atlas.ti software was used to analyze the data. The results indicate a relationship between knowledge and entrepreneurship constructs through theoretical modeling, highlighting the importance of the origin of knowledge for new venture creation, knowledge commercialization processes through entrepreneurship opportunities, and the origin and transmission of knowledge in organizations with entrepreneurial orientation (EO). The main limitation is the dispersion of research topics and the exclusion of publications that did not address the investigated relationship directly. The theoretical model proposed in this study can be extended to different spheres to identify and generate entrepreneurship opportunities, especially in universities and incumbent firms. Future studies should further validate the model empirically. © 2022 Business School, Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica. All Rights Reserved.

Brand management represents a field of research much studied in the last decade. Despite this, there are few comparative studies that attempt to investigate this phenomenon from within organizations and from their external clients. The objective of this research is to analyze the brand management process carried out by jeans manufacturing companies in the textile sector in Zone 3 of Ecuador to achieve a level of business competitiveness. The study is quantitative, not experimental, cross-sectional. 3 instruments were applied to measure brand management, brand equity and business competitiveness. The empirical method used was that of gathering information through surveys applied to 321 companies and 326 consumers. Statistical models of structural equation modeling (SEM) and non-parametric correlation (Spearman) were used. The existence of correlation between the study variables was determined. It is concluded that brand equity is a mediating variable of the study variables. © 2022, Universidad del Zulia. All rights reserved.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the interplay of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and green innovation in boosting competitiveness in manufacturing in an emerging market context. This study adds green innovation as mediator in the relationship between CSR and competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach: A model with three second-order constructs is developed and tested, in a sample of 325 managers from manufacturing companies in Ecuador, using quantitative and cross-section methods. Findings: After obtaining adjusted and validated measurement models, a structural equation model was conducted, where the main hypotheses were confirmed, providing empirical evidence that CSR and green innovation significantly influence manufacturing competitiveness in a developing economy. Research limitations/implications: This study considers only manufacturing companies in Ecuador, focusing on CSR practices in a single territorial case study. It arguably contributes to reinforce the business case for CSR, with new evidence on the causal relationships between CSR, green innovation and competitiveness, in the context of emerging market manufacturing industries. Although the literature often points at a positive relationship between CSR and firm-level competitiveness, supporting empirical evidence remains scarce. This model, introducing green innovation as mediator in the relationship between CSR and competitiveness in developing markets, accounts for a novel theoretical approach. Practical implications: The findings are consistent with previous research, reporting the positive influence of CSR activities on organizational competitiveness, reducing risks and cost structures, as well as improving the relationship with employees, enhancing talent attraction, retention and productivity. Incorporating formal CSR tools to the model allowed us to highlight the relevance of ‘green’ certifications as a means to provide a competitive edge, along with increased bargaining power in the supply chain, resulting in competitiveness gains. The findings on the role of green innovation suggest a transition from cost-savings to a more strategic leverage on responsible innovation as a source of competitive advantage. Social implications: Additionally, this research contributes to shed light on the impact of green processes and product innovations on social and environmental performance, providing evidence of a more efficient use of energy and natural resources, increasing productivity and by extension, profitability. CSR shapes an innovation culture that, through the use of social, environmental and sustainability controllers, can create new business models, products, services or processes that boost both firm-level and supply chain productivity, benefits that eventually spill over to the host community. Originality/value: This study aims at bridging the research gap on the interplay of CSR, green innovation and competitiveness in manufacturing in an emerging market context. © 2021, Carmen Paola Padilla-Lozano and Pablo Collazzo.
